Within the framework of its international market
study "Warehouse Management Systems",
the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flows and
Logistics (IML), Dortmund, has included the platform-independent
inventory management system (LVS) in its list
of internationally utilised Warehouse Management
Systems - and has certified it. More than 2,100
functions of the software and services of the
company were recorded by IML. 300 individual aspects
alone were validated on a running system. The
results are being drawn up by IML in a database
that can be accessed using the Internet. It is
intended to be available to potential investors
as the basis for a simple and neutral preselection.
The IML certificate emphatically confirms that
the logistics software by SSI Schäfer Noell
has established itself on the market within a
very short period of time as an efficient solution
for complex warehousing projects. From shelves
and pallet racks to fully automatic storage on
a pallet, container and/or small parts basis:
in more than 100 critical projects with well-known
customers such as 3M, DHL, Heinemann, Nestle,
Fiege, Geodis, Lufthansa, Rossmann, VW or Zott,
meanwhile ensures not only for efficient warehouse
management but also for the smooth control of
the operative processes along the entire supply
chain in the B2B and B2C segments.
The system is based on modern system architecture
and consistent user orientation, which are reflected
in the modular structure of the system. Thus,
depending on the scope of performance and functions,
is not only available in the basic version but
also in a "light" version. This light
version is a complete system for conventional
warehouses, pallet shifting systems and order-picking,
and is specially geared to warehouse management
for small and medium-sized companies. Advantage:
without long development times, an efficient,
powerful, tried and tested inventory management
system is available - reasonably priced, integration-capable
and reliable.
In its latest release, the basic version of includes
new tools and functions, and uses largely standard
modules to cover about 80 percent of the features
required by the market. Logistical functions such
as handling of incoming goods, storage space optimisation
and order compilation, tour handling or inventory
procedures in accordance with HGB guidelines can
be implemented without major programming work
or extra expenditure. Yet the functions of can
be comfortably customised to meet customer-specific
requirements and can be supplemented by optional
logistics modules as well as additional features
such as high availability concepts.

integration into existing SCM solutions. This

popular ERP and merchandise information systems
- SAP implementations are even certified. On account
of the implemented web browser interface, , which
is also client-capable, can be installed in stationary
or mobile workstations using relatively simple
means. For example, material flow and fork-lift
control systems, materials-handling equipment
and stacker cranes, as well as all order-picking
techniques such as manual order-picking, pick
by light and pick by voice are linked up online
to . An error-tolerant user management system
guarantees simple handling. Of course, supports
all standard device interfaces and not only optical
but also electronic (RFID) ID systems, and all
in all it is the ideal basis for an ergonomic
workstation.
For efficient management, offers powerful visualisation
and monitoring systems for the modern control
console. Improved data security via standby systems,
integrated early warning systems and the tried
and tested online support by SSI specialists twenty-four
hours a day, seven days a week, round off the
range of services, putting it in line with market
requirements.
With , SSI Schäfer Noell is pursuing a specific
release and evolution strategy. Accordingly, the
standard software follows the principle of a solution
that grows with you: even if the requirements

from the latest state of technology. The tried
and tested functions, as well as maximum integration
and update capability, make the system into a
future-proof investment in process control in
industry, trade and in service companies.
With its functions, tools and optional applications,
the logistics software by SSI Schäfer Noell
offers a high degree of flexibility, process orientation
and consistent system availability. The control
and optimisation of all material movements within
the warehouse, the efficient deployment of staff,
reduced stocks as well as the required monitoring
